PAPA EVENTS On Location with the Plein Air Painters of America
 Fifty plein-air paintings by PAPA Signature Members will be on view and for sale August 27 to September 6, 2010, at the ARTspace Gallery at the Art Association of Jackson. American Legacy--Our National Parks Experience 35 of our nation's national treasures in museums across the country! PAPA's American Legacy begins its road tour this fall traveling through Smith Kramer Exhibition Services. Venues include City of Lake Charles, LA, November 5, 2010, through January 16, 2011; and Museum of the Southwest, Midland, TX, February 13-April 24, 2011. A 92-page color catalog illustrates all the artworks from 35 National Park Service units/artists, including a historical essay by Jean Stern, Executive Director of the Irvine Museum. California Art Club Gold Medal Show The 99th Annual CAC Gold Medal Juried Exhibition runs through July 3, 2010, at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. Participating PAPA members include Peter Adams, John Budicin, John Cosby, Gil Dellinger, Lynn Gertenbach, Jean LeGassick, Kevin Macpherson, Joe Paquet (left: Sprinkler & Spring Greens, oil, 12x20), and Brian Stewart. Passport & Palette Kevin Macpherson and Kenn Backhaus are part of a P&P paint-out at Center Park, Denver, CO, July 3. Admission is free! Telluride Plein Air Ned Mueller participates in the plein-air event in Telluride, CO, sponsored by the Sheridan Arts Foundation through July 4, 2010. Down to the Sea Knowlton Gallery hosts an exhibition focusing on the California coast through August 21, 2010. The artists' reception on July 10, from 1-4 pm, features a seascape painting demonstration by Gil Dellinger. Ray Roberts is also participating in the exhibition.
Raleigh Kinney Watercolors Kinney will be participating in the Edwards Fine Art & Sculpture Festival, July 9-11, 2010, at Freedom Park, Edwards, CO, and the Glensheen 16th Annual Festival of Fine Art and Crafts on the Glensheen Historic Congdon Estate in Duluth, MN, August 14-15, 2010. He is also featured in Plein Air on the Rim, the Grand Canyon Association's paintout and sale opening September 17 and hanging through November 28, 2010. Sierra Foothills Conservancy PAPA artists included in the gala benefit for the Sierra Foothills Conservancy include John Cosby, Gil Dellinger (left: Mariposa) and Ray Roberts, whose works will be included in exhibitions taking place August 7, 2010, at AECOM Headquarters, Embarcadero in San Francisco, CA; at the Madden Library, Cal State, Fresno, August 12-26, 2010; and at the Great Central Valley Exhibition, August 29, 2010,at the California Art Academy.

American Artists Abroad The Bennington Center for the Arts, Bennington, VT, hosts American Artists Abroad through August 22, 2010. Maynard Dixon Country The annual Maynard Dixon show and sale takes place August 27-29, 2010, in Mt. Carmel, UT.

Cafes, Bars and Other Diversions John Cosby is part of a three-person show featuring urban life at Tree's Place Gallery, in Orleans, MA, August 14-29, 2010. Cosby focuses on restaurants and bars (left). The Mitchell National Invitational Show Opening Thursday, August 26, 2010, at 5:00 pm, in Trinidad, CO, the Mitchell Museum hosts an invitational that includes PAPA members John Budicin, Ralph Oberg, Gay Faulkenberry, Ron Rencher and Frank LaLumia. The show hangs through October 3, 2010. Brian Stewart in Grand Marais Stewart will be the awards judge, delivering a talk/presentation, and teaching a workshop at the Grand Marais Art Colony, August 27-September 5, 2010. Now in its 8th year, the Grand Marais Plein Air Painting Competition focuses on the landscape of Cook County and Minnesota's rugged North Shore of Lake Superior. Prix de West The annual Prix de West invitational exhibition and sale at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, Oklahoma City, OK, hangs through September 6, 2010. Participating PAPA members include Christopher Blossom, whose painting (left) Sunrise on the Golden Gate; Downeaster Benjamin F Packard (oil, 24x38) won the prestigious Prix de West Purchase Award placing it in the NCWHM permanent collection.
