The Allure of Water
PAPA's 23rd Exhibition and Sale
opens at The Haggin Museum, Stockton, California, with a weekend of gala of events, including an opening reception on Friday, October 14, 2011, the public opening and an Outdoor Painting Demo/Auction on Saturday, October 15, and Artist Demonstrations on Sunday, October 16. More than 100 paintings focus on w ater, our most precious resource for beauty, enjoyment and survival.  Six Guest Artists will be joining PAPA members:  Bill Anton, Kathleen Dunphy, Andy Evansen, Jerry Fritzler, Michael Lynch, Jim Morgan and Randall Sexton. American Legacy--Our National Parks
PAPA's 22nd Exhibition and Sale is on view  at the Michele & Donald D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts in Springfield, MA,through November 6, 2011. Additional venues may be viewed in the Press Room.  To view the entire exhibition, please go to The Haggin Museum web site, which organized the exhibit. A 92-page color catalog illustrates all the artworks from 35 National Park Service units/artists, including a historical essay by Jean Stern, Executive Director of the Irvine Museum. John Budicin is included in the July/August Art of the West. His painting at left,  Ladies of the Evening (oil,18x24), is reproduced for which he says, "Suddenly the light changed into a red glow ... I decided to go for it, and luckily it worked."

California
Light: A Century of Landscapes, Paintings of the California Art Club (Rizzoli Publications), by Jean Stern and Molly Siple, includes PAPA members Peter Adams, Ken Auster, John Budicin, John Cosby, Gil Dellinger, West Fraser, Lynn Gertenbach, Jean LeGassick, Kevin Macpherson, Joseph Mendez, Ralph Oberg, and Joseph Paquet.

 

And the winners are! 
Ray Roberts is the first place winner in the 1st Plein Air Magazine Salon Competition. Ned Mueller was one of the finalists in the competition.

Masters in Miniature
Trailside Galleries in Jackson Hole, WY, hosts its Masters in Miniature Invitational, July 4-24, 2011. A reception takes place July 21, 5-8 pm. Crested Butte Plein Air Invitational

Door County Plein Air
Frank LaLumia and Brian Stewart are participating in the 2011 Door County Plein Air Festival, July 18-23, 2011, Fish Creek, WI, hosted by and benefiting the Peninsula School of Art. The exhibition hangs through August 13, 2011.

 

Brian Stewart
Stewart is part of the exhibition The Raging Red and Mighty Mississippi at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum, through September 4, 2011, Winona, MN, and participating in the Bennington Center for the Arts, VT, Small Works show through December 18, 2011.   

 

Linda Tippetts
Tippetts
is participating in the 4th Annual Plein Air Paint Out, through August 27, 2011, in Glacier National Park, benefiting the Hockaday Museum, Kalispell, MT. She is also included in Kneeland Gallery's 20th Annual Plein Air Exhibition, Ketchum, ID, with a reception August 5, 2011, 5-8 pm. The exhibition hangs through August 29. 

 

Prix de West
Christopher Blossom, Ralph Oberg, Matt Smith and Skip Whitcomb are part of the Prix de West exhibition/sale through September 5, 2011, where there are still great artworks available at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum,  Oklahoma City. Betty Billups
Billups is participating in the Artists' Studio Tour of North Idaho, Sandpoint, ID, August 12-14 & 19-21, 2011.

 


Western Rendezvous of Art

Birds in Art

Third Annual Celebration of Art, Plein Air on the Rim
Raleigh Kinney, Ron Rencher and Linda Tippetts are participating in the Plein Air on the Rim exhibition and sale benefiting the Grand Canyon Association, Grand Canyon, AZ. The weekend of events takes place September 16-17, 2011, at the Kolb Studio on the South Rim. The exhibit remains on view through November 27, 2011.

The Splendid Earth

Sedona Plein Air Festival
The 7th annual SPAF takes place October 21-29, 2011. Raleigh Kinney will be painting and an exhibition of Kevin Macpherson’s Reflections on a Pond paintings will be on view in the Sedona Arts Center, AZ, opening October 21, 2011, with a reception from 5-7 pm.
