Gay Faulkenberry’s work is a reflection of a lifelong passion for art, painting, color and nature itself. She expresses her feelings on canvas in order to share them with others, and believes her best expressions happen when she’s “on location” painting quickly and capturing the essence of a subject, its mood, time and place. Capturing the magic of nature is the challenge; from the initial spark, her paintings incorporate a combination of textures, mood and light. Although she paints outdoors as much as possible, she enjoys the challenge of painting other subjects such as still lifes and interiors; it’s painting from life that offers her the greatest challenge and excitement. To this day, Faulkenberry continues to be a student of art, always reaching for a higher level of excellence or other ways of expressing her impression of nature. "If the excitement I feel for the subject,” she said, “and the magic of the process come through in my painting, then hopefully it speaks to the viewer as well." She conducts workshops throughout the United States, France and Italy, has been featured in numerous art publications including Southwest Art, Plein Air Magazine, and Artist magazine, and is a Master member of American Women Artists.
