In an era where we have become increasingly detached from nature and spend more time in front of a device than out of doors, I believe there is a collective need to reconnect with the natural world. My hope is that my paintings heighten the viewers’ awareness of the beauty that surrounds us and strengthens their appreciation for the complex and manifold creatures who share our world. As an artist, I am uniquely privileged to spend time observing the rhythms of nature. I rush to paint high tide slamming against the rocky coast, then settle down to watch the ocean ebb and the waves calm. I desperately seek shade from the relentless summer sun, then curl up like a cat in a beam of weak winter sunlight in December. Each season has its own beauty; each time of day its own visual rewards.
